In October 1982, the church rented and later purchased the camp house located on Route 56 and Harper's Creek Lane in Tyro.
On July 4, 1988, the first block was laid for a new church and on November 27, 1988, the new sanctuary was dedicated.
Since then, a fellowship hall, Sunday School rooms, a pavilion, sidewalks, and a playground have been added. Cornerstone Baptist Church continues today with weekly Sunday School, Worship Service and active children's programs, along with
Wednesday evening prayer meeting.
Over the years, Cornerstone Baptist Church has been a light in the small mountain community of Tyro, honoring God with its service, outreach and worship.
