Missionary for the month of July is Bible Education and Missionary Service (BEAMS) and Dr. Rene Freret. Pray daily and specifically this month for this Ministry. Dr Freret was the President and Director of BEAMS from 1996 until 2021.  

Pray that BEAMS will receive the money necessary from churches across America to print God’s Word so Bibles can continued to be placed into the hands of those whom never had a copy. Just think: “What if you never had a copy of God’s Word?”

Pray for Dr. Freret’s health due to Parkinson’s Disease and pray for Mrs. Freda Freret as she cares for him. This man of God and his wife are worthy of our prayers. He has dedicated many years of service to our Lord and is playing a meaningful role in connecting the production of BEAMS Bibles with missionaries and national pastors around the world.  

Dr. Freret answered God’s call to preach the gospel in September, 1965. He married Freda in December, 1966, and together they are blessed with four children, nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.  

Before leading BEAMS, Dr. Freret faithfully served 30 years as a pastor. In 1973, he grew the Temple Baptist Church in Gulfport, Mississippi, from five adult members to attendances above 600 people, During those years, Dr. Freret completed his master’s and doctoral degrees, founded Temple Christian Academy, organized Temple Baptist Institute to help train preachers and servants of the Lord, and led the establishment of seven other churches.  

Further, Dr Freret developed a worldwide Faith Promise Mission program that we have implemented at our Cornerstone Baptist Church. His early preaching at a Faith Promise Missions Conference in Florida, and the words of II Corinthians 9-12, “For the administration of this service…”, are what inspired him to follow God’s calling to lead the BEAMS Ministry.

In 1996, Dr. Freret resigned as the pastor of Temple Baptist Church to serve full time with the BEAMS Ministry. Under his watch, more than 2,300,000 Bibles were given to 3,000 American missionaries and national pastors in more than 151 countries in 48 languages. All Bibles sent free of charge. To God be the glory!.

In 2021, Dr. Freret resigned as President and Director of the BEAMS Ministry due to health reasons. Dr. Arthur Lockard, who had served faithfully as Assistant Director for 11 years, became the current President and Director. Thank God for Dr. Lockard, office staff, full-time BEAMS missionaries, volunteers and everyone’s prayers that are making the Ministry work still today.
